More funding available to smaller growing companies as financial markets stabilize
In the last few weeks, large companies have been raising money in the stock and bond markets. Also, on a more basic level, banks are more willing to lend to each other. The so-called TED spread, the difference between the interest rates on interbank loans and Treasury Bills has moved to its lowest levels in years. The lower TED spread demonstrates that banks and investors are less fearful, hoarding less cash, and making more liquidity available for transactions and loans.
Since the capital markets have opened for large companies, and the financial system has stabilized, more loans and private equity will be distributed to growing smaller companies over the coming months.
